AMSTEENS Work

We offer a variety of opportunities to interested teen artists.

Saturday Studio Time— Every Saturday the AMSTeens Coordinator provides prompts and guided instruction to AMSTeens at the Art Museum from 10:30-2:00 pm.

Workshops from professional artists—Every semester AMST contracts professional artists and professors to provide the teens workshops on various mediums. Past workshops include: printmaking (linocut), zine, collage, photography, chemigrams, book-binding, and lumen prints.

Exhibitions— AMSTeens every semester have the opportunity to showcase their work in a teen-led and curated exhibition at the AMST with an accompanying reception.

Art Career and Development—Teens receive career-based workshops and presentations from professional, successful local artists and have the ability to sell their art at our Third Thursday events.

Volunteering—Teens are able to fulfill volunteering hours in collaboration with different partnered organizations.

Teen events

Throughout the year teen-centered events will be happening at the museum including tours, exhibitions, and collaborations with high school art programs!

The AMST aims to revive the Ageless Art program through intergenerational art creation, by providing a spotlight on our community’s seniors, their artwork, and their stories through the lens of community teenagers in the AMSTeens Program.

This revival will work in tandem with our newest exhibition on display Home, Love, and Loss. The works in this exhibition speak to the broad and complex dynamics of family and home, addressing identity, longing, empathy, and survival as part of the human condition.

Teens will interview senior residents at Caraday of Corpus Christi- Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living Facility to create portraits of the seniors.

AMSTEENS COUNCIL

To aid in the development and execution of AMSTeens, the Art Museum of South Texas is developing a Teen Art Advisory Council. Current high-school-age students who have an interest in art, culture, community engagement, and museum work are invited to apply.

Council members will work closely with museum staff, local artists, and community leaders on the AMSTeens program
and will also be involved with various volunteer activities around the museum.

CREATE ART INSPIRED BY ART

Throughout the summer, Council Members will work on creating their own pieces of art inspired by/as a response to the Museum’s various exhibitions.
