Docent and Student Docent Volunteers

We welcome the volunteer services of our docents and continually seek to build our docent base. Docents provide guided tours in the Museum for children and adults. It is not necessary to have an academic background in art or history to join our program. Training is conducted quarterly by curatorial staff and guest artists/curators.

The Student Docent program is a great way for students to broaden their knowledge of art history, build on communication and public speaking skills, become involved in a professional museum environment and earn some money (as grant funds are available).

Internship Programs

Unpaid, part-time internships are available by academic semester each year in administration, marketing/public relations, curatorial, membership/visitor services, and education. If you are student, you may be eligible to earn college credit for your internship hours, however, credit programs are managed through the individual student’s academic institution.

AMST offers limited numbers of internships each semester and may be unable to place all applicants. Internship time commitments may vary between 8 hours per week minimum to 30 hours per week maximum.
