artRageous: Rococo Ranch

WHAT: artRageous: Rococo Ranch

WHEN: Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 7:00pm-11:00pm

WHERE: Art Museum of South Texas (Valet in the Shoreline Turnaround)

WHY: Your sponsorship or tickets to artRageous help support AMST’s exhibitions, educational programming, and outreach into the community.

CO-CHAIRS: DeeAnna Heavilin & Troy Nicholson

With inspiration from AMST’s summer exhibition, King Ranch: A Legacy in Art, Paintings by Noe Perez, experience a ranch fit for the royal court…Rococo style. Walk the line between cowboy hats and powdered wigs; hoe-downs and Fête Galantes; Annie Oakley and Marie Antionette; Wyatt Earp and Jean-Honoré Fragonard (AMST has a Fragonard in the Permanent Collection!).

The ornamental nature of Rococo embraced decorative picturesque landscapes, playful motifs, and exuberant escapism—truly, why have less when you can have MORE?! And while Rococo was a favorite of the 18th-Century royals, around here we tip our hat to the King…King Ranch! For one night, treat yourself to decadence and live like a country-western-inspired-18th-century-Rococo royal—did you ever think you’d have the chance?!

ATTIRE:

Adorn yourself with frills and grit with your take on Rococo Ranch! Powdered wigs and bedazzled western outfits, bolo ties and feathers, corsets and chaps. Anything over-the-top will fit right in! Think Liberace cowboy, Marie Antionette with cowboy boots. There’s no way to overdo it at the annual artRageous costume contest! The winner will be dubbed artRageous Royalty and will have their name added to the artRageous award, PLUS 2 General Admission tickets to next year’s artRageous.
