Art Museum of South Texas

In the early 1970s, when the Johnson building first opened, the board decided that collecting work on paper was the best direction to concentrate AMST’s collection. Consequently, a strong collection of works on paper by significant American artists was established with work by Jennifer Bartlett, Lois Lane, Sol Lewitt, and many others. The tradition of collecting work on paper has continued throughout AMST’s history, with current additions by David Bates, John Cobb, James Albertson, Michel Girard, and many others. The exhibition presented thirty selected works from the AMST’s Permanent Collection.
