Curated by the new director of the Austin Art Museum, Elizabeth Ferrer, the exhibition was organized by the Americas Society in New York City. Over fifty narrative paintings are accompanied by a major catalogue traces the artist’s life as she struggled to gain recognition as a woman painter in a society which frowned on doing so during the era in which she lived (1902-1955).
