Art Museum of South Texas

This 15th annual juried exhibition features the best new works submitted from the artist members of the American Society of Marine Artists. The 120 works on display represent a variety of media, including oils, watercolors, acrylics, bronzes, and more. Some of the artists whose work is included are Mike Mazer, Sydney Zentall, Paula Waterman, Harold W. Johnson, and Christopher Blossom, among many others. Local artists include Al Barnes, Guy Morrow, and Kent Ullberg. This show includes images of all kinds of sea-going vessels, seacoasts, and the activities that occur in and around the water.

“This 15th National Exhibition is the most ambitious and comprehensive in our history, a truly impressive collection of over 120 works of painting, drawing, sculpture and scrimshaw. Representational depictions inspired by the sea, sea life, and seafaring can be found among the earliest works of human creativity, and will survive and thrive for centuries more. Today, marine art is as vibrant as ever, energized anew … with fresh visions from members of the American Society of Marine Artists.”
