Last Chance to View Birds in Art

November 19, 2017 @ 12:00 am - November 20, 2017 @ 12:00 am

Celebrate our community’s spirit, strength, andresiliency by viewing Birds in Art, the exhibition widely considered the “gold standard” for avian art, on display September 29-November 19 at the Art Museum of South Texas (AMST) located at 1902 N. Shoreline Blvd. Corpus Christi, Texas 78401. When Hurricane Harvey waylaid Rockport Center for the Arts’ plans to host world-renowned Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum’s annual Birds in Art exhibition, AMST offered one of its galleries as a new venue for the highly anticipated exhibition. Birds in Art celebrates thetimeless appeal of birds through fresh and contemporary artistic interpretations. This traveling show is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for people in Texas to experience the finest avian art being produced at an international level, including art by three Texas artists including Kent Ullberg (Corpus Christi), Jim Offeman (Missouri City) and Debbie Stevens (Cypress). The creative partnership between the AMST and the Rockport Center for the Arts exemplifies the healing power of art.  The exhibition is open during regular museum hours, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, and 1-5-p.m. Sunday, closed Mondays. Admission is free to museum members and TAMU-CC students with valid ID.  General admission fees are adults $8, free to children 12 and under, seniors (65+) $6.  For more information call (361) 825-3500or email art.museum@tamucc.edu.
