Art Museum of South Texas Announces Catalogue Raisonné Project for Dorothy Hood in Partnership with TnT Research & Consulting

A multi-year scholarly initiative commences featuring Texan artist Dorothy Hood.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX –The Art Museum of South Texas (AMST) announces the launch of a comprehensive Catalogue Raisonné of the work of American artist Dorothy Hood (1918–2000), undertaken in partnership with TnT Research & Consulting. This multi-year scholarly initiative will document, research, and publish an authoritative record of Hood’s artistic output.
AMST has served as a principal steward of Dorothy Hood’s legacy, since 2001, after acquiring a major portion of her estate. The Museum holds a significant collection of Hood’s paintings, drawings, and collages in its Permanent Collection and collaborates with institutional partners to preserve and provide access to archival materials that support ongoing scholarship.
The Catalogue Raisonné project builds on decades of research and curatorial leadership by the Museum, including the landmark retrospective of Hood’s work and the publication of The Color of Being/El Color del Ser: Dorothy Hood, 1918–2000, written by Susie Kalil and published by Texas A&M University Press in collaboration with the Art Museum of South Texas.
A catalogue raisonné is a comprehensive, scholarly listing of all known artworks by an artist. The Dorothy Hood Catalogue Raisonné will document works across media produced throughout Hood’s career, including paintings, drawings, and collages. The project will involve archival research, provenance study, photographic documentation, and collaboration with collectors, institutions, galleries, and scholars in the United States and abroad.
“The Art Museum of South Texas is honored to lead this important scholarly initiative,” said Sara Morgan, Director of the Art Museum of South Texas. “Dorothy Hood was a singular and visionary artist whose work continues to resonate nationally and internationally. The Catalogue Raisonné will ensure that her artistic legacy is documented with rigor, care, and clarity for future generations.”
TnT Research & Consulting will serve as the Museum’s research partner on the project, supporting documentation, archival research, and outreach to collectors and institutions. The team will work closely with the Museum to assemble a centralized record of known works and related materials. “We are deeply honored to collaborate with the Art Museum of South Texas on this project,” said Matt Taylor, Co-Founder and CEO of TnT Research & Consulting. “The Catalogue Raisonné represents a vital step in advancing scholarship on Dorothy Hood and strengthening understanding of the breadth and complexity of her oeuvre.”
The Catalogue Raisonné is envisioned as a living scholarly resource that will evolve as additional works and documentation surface. Owners of works by Dorothy Hood are encouraged to participate by submitting information and images through the project’s dedicated web portal at DorothyHood.org.
