Second Saturday Free Gallery Walk with Museum Admission

Join a FREE tour of current Museum exhibitions led by a trained AMST docent on the second Saturday of each month from 1-4 p.m. These free Gallery Walks are a great way to learn more about the exhibition than what is on the labels. Your docent will add historical and cultural context to the exhibitions. To take part in one of these free  hour-long Gallery Walks, meet in front of the Gift Shop at the top of each hour.

Young Artist Workshop: The Quilts of Gee’s Bend

For ages K5-12 The Quilts of Gee’s Bend The women of Gee’s Bend — a small, remote, black community in Alabama — have created hundreds of quilt masterpieces dating from the early twentieth century to the present. We’ll examine these and their connection to Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement as we create our own colorful quilt collages.
