Noe Perez: The King Ranch Paintings

Noe Perez, the artist is a south Texas native, born in Falfurrias, Texas, now living and working in Corpus Christi. He is considered by many to be one of the most foremost contemporary landscape painters of Texas. His work in this project was commissioned by the King Ranch to celebrate their 100 Year Anniversary of the historic main house.

Covering 825,000 acres in the Coastal Plain and Brush Country of South Texas, King ranch, established in 1853, looms large in Texas and American history and perhaps even larger in the imagination. From is founding, by the energetic and visionary Richard King. The paintings are stunning in their beauty and are inspired in their artistic response. The accompanying book includes essays to gain an understanding of the importance of the King ranch. The painting offers a unique appreciation of the natural beauty and artistic influence of the legendary place.

The accompanying book includes historical information about the origin of the ranch and some remarkable stories many likely have never known. When there is scholarship (stories) about the art there are many ways, they can be told. Included in the publication are essays by Bob Kinnan, King Ranch archivist, Bob Shackelford, a historian specializing the cattle industry and the American West, Ron Tyler, retired Director of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art and Professor of History at the University of Texas, at Austin.
