Art Museum of South Texas

This was the first major American showing of paintings, drawings, and sculpture by this 46-year old Colombian-born artist. Approximately 70 works, spanning three decades, were included in the exhibition. In the course of his career, Botero has lived and worked in Mexico, Washington, DC, New York and Paris, as well as in his homeland. His characteristically inflated images, strongly reflective of his Colombian cultural heritage, and thorough absorption of the Old Masters, have been in many important international exhibitions.
