INTRODUCTION

Flint Hills Resources and The Art Museum of South Texas are pleased to announce the 2009 Visionarios Youth Art Contest for students in grades 1-12. This juried competition encourages young people to participate in art and provides an opportunity for them to be recognized for their efforts.

The name "Visionarios" celebrates youthful vision and creativity as expressed through art. Research shows that students who study the arts perform better in the classroom and on standardized tests and are less likely to drop out of school. Arts education also helps students develop the self-discipline, cooperation, and self-motivation necessary for high achievement in school and in life. Flint Hills Resources and AMST are dedicated to helping young people envision a bright future and develop the discipline and creativity to achieve their goals.

THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE.

Entries for Visionarios 2009 should be based on the student's interpretation of this year's theme: "Reflections of the Gulf Coast."
