Frida Kahlo: Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray
Artist Frida Kahlo was born on July 6, 1907, in Coyocoán, Mexico City, Mexico. Considered one of Mexico's greatest artists, her life and marriage to fellow artist Diego Rivera have been extensively written about. The photographer Nickolas Muray met Kahlo when he traveled to Mexico on vacation in May 1931. The 46 photographs in this exhibition, dating from 1937 to 1946, explore Muray’s unique perspective of Frida Kahlo and his relationship with her as friend, lover and confidant. Muray photographed Kahlo more than any of his other subjects. His photographs of her have become integral to the world’s understanding of Frida Kahlo, the individual behind her artwork. This exhibition has been organized by the Nickolas Muray Photo Archives and is circulated through GuestCurator Traveling Exhibitions
